LUNCH 2016
Hundreds of ETU Honorary Members converged on Etihad Stadium on 28 September for our annual Honorary Members Lunch.
This is one of our favourite events of the year and it just keeps getting bigger and better. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our honorary members to catch up with mates and relive a lifetime of commitment to their union. It’s also a chance for the ETU to honour the members who built the strong and united union we all enjoy today.
At this year’s event we paid special tribute to a legend of the ETU, Graeme Watson, who has retired after decades of service to the union and the trade. Many members would know Graeme as the man who ran the ETU’s training arm EEIT for many years, before helping us to establish our training college Futuretech. Graeme is looking forward to indulging his passion for fishing in his retirement and we wish him all the best in that endeavour.
The audience was also treated to the thoughts of AFL legend Dermott Brereton just days before the Grand Final. He tipped Sydney for the win, which proves that even legends get it wrong sometimes.
Many thanks to Slater and Gordon for their ongoing sponsorship of this very special event. n
