FRESH SNOW & NEW ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT
This year’s ski season has been great for ETU and AMWU members who maintain the ski lifts at the Mount Buller ski resort. Not only did they have plenty of snow, members also endorsed a new Enterprise Agreement in July.
The new Buller Ski Lifts Enterprise Agreement is unique in terms of the provisions that cover ETU members. The Agreement classification structure is based around the skills required
to maintain ski lifts. The Agreement contains an allowance to cover the cost of skis, ski poles, helmets, googles and sunglasses that the members need to move around the mountain and maintain the skiing infrastructure.
THE NEW CHADDIE
A special feature of the new development is the grid-shell roof, made from 2700 glass panels that each weigh 200 kilograms.
The Agreement also covers trades- person rostering arrangements to ensure there is electrical and mechanical maintenance coverage for the ski lifts seven days a week during the snow season, including twilight/night skiing.
The new Agreement ensures that the ETU and AMWU members at Mount Buller continue to have the best wage rates for tradespersons working in the ski industry. n
The development will make Chadstone the largest shopping centre in Australia, with 600 retailers across more than 200,000 square metres – roughly equal to 10 MCGs.
