FAREWELL
ALEX MCCALLUM
Next month sees the departure of Protect CEO and Company Secretary, Alex McCallum.
lex has been the head of Protect since 2010 and is a 38-year member of the ETU, having joined the
Victorian Branch in 1979.
Alex began his electrical career as an apprentice in Sydney in 1968 before moving to Melbourne in
the late ’70s. He worked at ACI in Spotswood and the ETU’s Skills Centre in Richmond before joining the ETU as an elected organiser in 1995.
He went on to serve the union as Assistant Secretary from 2002 before taking on the new role of business manager of the branch.
In addition to his Protect and
ETU roles, Alex has also served as director on the boards of Connect Superannuation (now merged
with CBUS) and the VICTEC Group Apprenticeship Scheme, and as chair of the EPIC Industry Training Board.
As Alex moves into the next stage of his life, we would like to thank him for his many years of dedicated service to the union and the trade. We wish him all the very best for a long and happy retirement.
