JEMENA MEMBERS APPROVE NEW AGREEMENT
Members at Jemena achieved a significant win in their EBA negotiations Oin December after a protected action ballot was overwhelmingly voted up.
nce Jemena had been notified of the members’ intention to take action they called emergency meetings with the ETU shop stewards at the
11th hour. The outcome of these meetings saw significant wins for the members,
as shown right.
ETU organiser Matt Boyd said, ‘This EBA delivers the job security our Jemena members need in 2017 and beyond. Together with
a 16% increase in wages and allowances over four years
and full backpay, this is a great outcome in the current climate. Our shop stewards were fantastic throughout the whole process
of negotiations and deserve a huge pat on the back from the members they represent.’ n
No trade-offs
Four-year duration, ending in 2020
Increases of 16% on wages and allowances over four years with full backpay
Significant increases to income protection and the severance and climatic conditions allowance
Increased job security including protections against part-time, fixed-term and
casual employment undermining conditions and overtime
Stronger protections against contractors undermining conditions
Clauses that strengthen health and safety standards
Protection of the trade from being undermined by trade assistants
Protections against the introduction of tracking devices
Introduction of shift restrictions
New clause to deal with visa-holders and single-person work
Strengthened temporary crew leaders’ clause
The ability to purchase additional leave
